Estuary & Salmon Restoration Program Webinar
Fine-scale movement of juvenile salmon to inform tidal fish passage restoration in Puget Sound.
December 11, 2024, 2pm – 3pm
WDFW collaborated with tribal partners and restoration practitioners to complete a study of fish movement and tidal hydraulics in estuarine habitats, particularly related to juvenile salmon in tidal environments, such as embayments and river deltas. This study is intended to provide technical background for improvement of tidal barrier assessment and evaluation, as well as design of tidal water crossing structures. Presented by Padraic Smith, PE & Doris Small (retired) of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
2025 Virtual North Sound Riparian Conference

Bringing together riparian restoration practitioners to build networks, share practical information and improve outcomes. This series of presentations is provided free of charge and there is no need to register.
Save the Dates: Effective Estuary Restoration Symposiums
March 4 and May 6, 2025
These half-day virtual symposiums will bring together experts in the field of estuary restoration along the U.S. West Coast to explore effective estuary restoration topics. These are the second and third in a series of symposiums that explore a wide range of pressing topics in estuary restoration. 2025 symposiums will explore:
- Blue Carbon in the context of fish habitat
- Data and monitoring protocols and guidance
- Collaborative platforms for restoration practitioners.
The symposiums are designed to support estuary restoration practitioners and will include opportunities to share techniques, ask questions, and build a community of practice. These symposiums are hosted by the Pacific Marine and Estuarine Fish Habitat Partnership with generous funding from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. There is no cost to attend, but space will be limited. Registration information will be published soon.
